OFFICE DEVELOPMENT MOREHEAD STREET, SOUTH TOWNSVILLE

The project is an example of “adaptive re-use” as it involved the conversion of a 1970 “Armco” kit factory (bought up from Sydney) previously used as a church and boat maintenance facility to a 5 star energy efficient office complex containing 7 self contained modules each with an atrium foyer and mezzanine office floor. The original structure and roof was stripped to the steel frame whilst the slab and some block walls were retained, this saving over 30% of a new build cost, and then under a new roof the enclosing and interior fit out work proceeded. MPA were responsible for the town planning, architectural and interior work, graphics and the actual construction work, which was completed in two stages over three years.
